Free Bike Marking

  • Dean's Field DE22 1DX (map)

Darley SNT are offering free bike marking at the Field Day event hostd by 63rd Scouts on Dean’s Field Darley Abbey (near old Abbey pub)

The scheme works by marking the bike with a unique code linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, we can use this code to ensure the bike is returned to its rightful owner and prove it is stolen.

The marking by www.BikeRegister.com is usually £12 but is being offered free by our Safer Neighbourhood team.

PC Amy Hill, from the Safer Neighbourhood team in Mackworth, Allestree and Darley, said: “We have held several of these events and they have always proved popular.

“The scheme is a real deterrent to bike theft as it allows us to know that the bike is stolen and who it belongs to. There is nothing more frustrating for us to seize bikes from a suspected bike thief for us then not to be able to find their rightful owners and not be able to prove that they are stolen.”

Anyone attending to have their bike marked should bring with them some form of identification.
