Park Grove Resurfacing - trees removed

The council has now finished replacing the tarmac on a section of Park Grove, In the process, two cherry trees were chopped down. The trees are both on the odd house number side, one being next to Wheeldon Ave crossroads and the other next to the Bromley St junction. The council has said that they had been identified as failing and the road closure meant there was space for them to be removed.

The council say they have no funding to replace the trees this year. However the council have declared a climate emergency and it is true that street trees mitigate against particulate pollution and promote urban cooling.

If you wish to contact the council on the matter the email for relevant person in the trees dept is Anna.Murphy@derby.gov.uk It is not clear what the council tree plan is or that they recognise that many people in the area are keen that trees are replaced.

If you wish to contact Lisa Eldret or Martin Repton on the matter, their emails are lisa.eldret@derby.gov.uk and martin.repton@derby.gov.uk
