Flood Defences in Darley Park + beyond

from Derby Telegraph

The first phase of the £95 million Our City Our River (OCOR) is a vast project.

It stretches northwards out of the city along the path of the River Derwent as far as Eagle Park, beyond Darley playing fields, taking in Northedge, Darley Abbey Mills, the former Aida Bliss site on City Road, Duke Street and Sowter Road.

Although residents in the Chester Green area have been living with the disruption that comes with major works, they can be assured that Derby is prepared if a “1-in-100 years” flood hits the city.

The scheme’s primary objective is to protect 2,000 existing properties and 700 businesses from flooding.

Workers will shortly be moving on to protect the city from the River Gardens south-east towards Pride Park and Alvaston Park with completion expected by December 2020.
