Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Derby opening

Head into the city and celebrate the start of Festive Derby!

Pop into town and experience the switch on of Derby’s Christmas Lights.

Before the switch on takes place you can be one of the first to take to the Cathedral Quarter ice rink, with skating available from 5pm. 

The festivities begin with the main stage show, hosted by Smooth Radio, taking place outside Riverside Chambers, across the road from QUAD and the Council House, starting at 5pm.

The show will culminate with the official Christmas Lights Switch On at 6:30pm, illuminating the city for the festive season.

You will see lantern makers from across the city come together as a part of the Season of Light Lantern Parade from 5pm, which includes local primary schools and members from various community groups who will proudly parade with the sustainable lanterns that they have made.
