Season of Light Lantern Parade

In partnership with Surtal Arts and Derby LIVE.

The parade will start from St Peter’s Cross, which will see lantern makers from across the city who will be joined by more than 350 pupils at local primary schools, Derby College and members from various community groups who will proudly parade with the sustainable lanterns that they have made. 

They will be joined by illuminated Christmas themed stilt walkers, Bollywood Bhangra dancers from Surtal Arts and Derby College, Ukranian Hopak dancers from Hoverla dance ensemble, Dhol drummers and Chinese umbrella dancers who will start from from St. Peter’s Church Square.

The parade then concludes with array of energetic stage performances prior to the Christmas Lights Switch-On.  

Come and join in with your own lanterns at St Peter’s Cross by 4.30pm, but please note no glass lanterns or real flames are permitted.
