Park Grove - new road surface!
I am sure the residents of Park Grove (crossroads to Newton’s Walk) will be very happy to have it confirmed that the council are completely resurfacing the road over October half term week. People who regularly drive along there will also be pleased; I know a person living further into the Access Only zone had to get the suspension fixed after not noticing one pothole. This week was booked back in the summer to avoid school and university traffic.
As the letter says, it is essential that for work to take place ALL vehicles need to disappear from this stretch. It really does have to be completely clear of every parked vehicle from 8am to about 3.30pm. The equipment is, apparently, so big it would damage any nearby car. Nearer the time, there may be more details about which bit is going to be done on which day as that could be helpful.
The council has had the situation arise where one resident on a road scheduled for resurfacing declined to move their vehicle until the afternoon which meant no work could be carried out. As the slot was lost, that street went to the back of the list. The same resident has since complained about potholes on their road …
The equipment is booked until next year so if the work doesn’t get done on schedule this month, then there is no chance it can come back for months. If you know of any neighbours who will be away that week, perhaps a gentle question as to where they are moving their car to before they go might be an idea! Or if there is anyone for whom moving the car is a problem, perhaps you, as a neighbour, can help.
