Have Your Say - last few days

from the Council:

“On Wednesday 12th December, Council Cabinet was given approval to go out to consultation on our 2019/20 Budget. The report sets out our Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) for 2019/20 to 2022/23 showing plans for managing the funding needed to deliver Council services over the next four years and the financial challenges we face.

Thanks to the collective hard work of colleagues across the Council, we can report that we were able to bring a balanced budget for 2019/2020 to the December Cabinet meeting. This is a significant achievement from the £5.57 million 2019/20 gap that we had in the MTFP report agreed by Council Cabinet in October, made possible by proactively and positively working to find financial solutions together with some additional funding announced in the Chancellor’s October 29 Budget.

Looking to the future, increasing demand for services and reduced government funding, means that, like other councils, we will have to make our budget stretch even further to meet the needs and expectations of our residents.

Whilst we’re making steady progress towards balancing our MTFP, our current position is still showing a funding gap of £7.66 million over the next four years.

The six week 2019/20 Budget Consultation is now open and will run until 10.00am Thursday 24th January 2019.  We encourage all of you to take part and have your say on the proposals in the budget consultation. It is vital that we have your involvement in these important decisions, so we can meet your needs as Derby citizens.”
