Sturgess Fields Access

Sturgess Fields is used by many in the area to walk their dogs, play football etc and public access is guaranteed by its legal town green status. The fields are owned by University of Derby.

The University has restricted access to the two public fields - there is a fence blocking access from Markeaton Street and the plank bridge has been removed so the Jonty Farmer field can only be accessed from Kedleston Road and the other public field can only be accessed from Watson Street.

This seems to have been done for safety reasons but there doesn’t seem to have been consultation on this or warning.
