What is yarn bombing?

Yarn bombing (or urban knitting) is a type of temporary street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn. This year we aim to decorate the trees in one of the streets, creating a buzz and some colour to our neighbourhood for the weekend.

We do have some ideas and patterns – so whether you just want to knit a few flowers, or something similar, these would be helpful to fill out the bigger designs. The patterns can be provided if you would like them although there are many free patterns available to download. Alternatively – if you and your fellow yarnists wanted to do your own designs – that would be great.

Perhaps you would like to try something a little more creative? Maybe with group of fellow yarnists would like to get together … If you can’t get involved this year but have some leftover wool that you could donate onto a crafty neighbour, please get in touch, it would all be appreciated with Amanda on 07812 369243 or email the Six Streets team
